While we float and explore this wilderness, you and your children will learn about wildlife, plant life, geology and ecology of the area, along with water safety. When we arrive at camp - a large, white sand beach - there is always time for a swim or a game of koob or horseshoes before sitting down to a dinner that will impress mom and dad and the kids. Evening programs conducted by the "Kid Wranglers"(tm) include interpretive hikes, Native American arts and crafts, history lessons, camping skills and more.

Families can enjoy paddling together in a paddle boat or share quality time together in an oar boat. For the older kids (and mom and dad) the experience of challenging the whitewater in one of our inflatable kayaks cannot be beat! Our camps offer comfort to all. From the Sierra Design tents, sleeping bags, self-inflating pads and pillows, to the tables and chairs to the hot showers, we have overlooked nothing. Mackay provides everything but your clothes and toiletries. But, more important, Mackay provides the FUN!

The Main Salmon River - "The River of No Return"

6 Day 5 Night Main Salmon Expedition - The trip begins just below the confluence of the Middle Fork and the Main Salmon Rivers. This expedition explores all of the "wilderness" section of the "River of No Return." Guests raft 81 miles of the roadless and magnificent Main Salmon Canyon. The river trip ends on the morning of the 6th day at the Carey Creek take out.

Price: $1,695.00 per Adult and $847.50 per Child 12 and younger*

Launch Dates: June 27, July 5, 13, 21, 29, August 6, 14, 22, 30 September 7

5 Day 4 Night Main Salmon Expedition - This trip is the same day as the 6 Day 5 Night Main Salmon Expedition. However, during the early part of the season water conditions create a faster pace float. You float the same distance, but in a shorter time. The river trip ends on the morning of ther 5th day at the Carey Creek take out.

Mackay offers the 5 Day 4 Night trip on all our Main Salmon 6 Day 5 Night dates. Guests may depart the group from a riverside airstrip a day early. This take out is in the roadless section requiring guests to fly out of the river the morning of the 5th day. The trip will explore 54 miles of the Main Salmon Canyon.

Price: $1,495.00 per Adult and $747.50 per Child 12 and younger*

Launch Dates: June 27, July 5 (We offer this trip on all of the 6 Day 5 Night trip dates as well. Guests simply depart the group a day early.)

TRANSPORTATION: All Main Salmon expedition pricing includes ground transportation from the Salmon Airport to the river and from Carey Creek to McCall, Idaho. NOT included in the Main Salmon trip pricing are air transportation, vehicle shuttles or motel rooms before or after your trip. Air transportation, ground shuttles and lodging packages are available as follows:

BOISE PRE TRIP LODGING and ROUND TRIP FLIGHT packages: $400.00 pp

This package includes one night lodging in Boise, a detailed orientation meeting with hors d'oeuvres the night before the start of your trip and ROUND TRIP flights from Boise to Salmon at the beginning of your trip and from McCall, Idaho back to Boise at the end of your trip. This package also includes all ground transportation between the Boise Airport and your prearranged lodging in Boise.

Guests rafting the 5 Day 4 Night trip will need to fly from the river on the morning of the 5th day.

ONE WAY FLIGHTS from the river to either Boise or Salmon: $210.00 pp

Guests can have their personal vehicles shuttled from Salmon, Idaho to the Carey Creek take out.

Vehicle Shuttle: $300.00 per vehicle

Kid Wrangler Program - on our Main Salmon trips we provide a trained "Kid Wrangler" specifically to teach and entertain. Your children will learn about the geography, history, plants, animals and birds, and take part in organized activities. We have designed the program, not only to teach about the wilderness, but to entertain both parents and kids.

At the pre-trip orientation in Boise, a Mackay representative will meet you, give you your own personalized waterproof duffel as well as personalized instructions on how to pack for your expedition.

If you are not traveling through Boise, you will receive your duffel and detailed WRITTEN ORIENTATION by mail.
